By Car

Lynton & Lynmouth is located on the North Devon coast, on the A39, between the towns of Minehead and Barnstaple.

From the M5 via J23 & A39 – Journey time: 1 hour 20 mins
From Bridgwater, take the A39 and follow the coastal route to Lynmouth.

From the M5 via J27 & A361 North Devon Link Road – Journey time: 1 hour 5 mins
From Tiverton, follow the A361 to the junction with the A399 at South Molton. Take the A399 to Blackmoor Gate and turn right onto the A39. Continue to Barbrook and take the left hand turn opposite the petrol station.

Parking

Free Short-Stay Roadside Parking

Free roadside parking is limited to 2 hours in designated parking bays between 10.00am – 6.00pm from Good Friday until 31st October – outside of these times and dates there are no restrictions.

Blue Badge holders can use free roadside parking all day throughout the year.

Car Parks & Prices

Most Pay & Display car parks in Lynton & Lynmouth are operated by Lynton & Lynmouth Town Council.

Four-Day and Weekly parking permits are available to buy from Lynton Post Office or the Lynmouth National Park Centre

Bus Routes

Lynton & Lynmouth – Barnstaple 309/310 service

There is a regular bus service and Rail Link to and from Barnstaple.

Exmoor Coaster

Adventures by Bus – a spectacular open-top (occasionally a closed-top) bus journey along the A39 Coast Road, connecting Watchet, Minehead, Porlock, Countisbury and Lynmouth.

Trains

Railway Stations

The nearest rail station to Lynton & Lynmouth is Barnstaple. Barnstaple is easily reached by bus and is served by regular trains from Exeter, with onward connections across the UK.

Barnstaple to Lynton & Lynmouth Rail Link

There are also rail stations at Taunton & Tiverton Parkway quite convenient by road (A361), but cannot be directly reached by public transport.

Taunton and Tiverton Parkway are both served by fast train services from London, Bristol, Birmingham and beyond. Trains are operated by Cross Country and First Great Western.

West Somerset Railway

Lynton & Lynmouth is also only 20 miles from the Minehead terminus of the West Somerset Railway, which can be reached from Lynmouth by the Exmoor Coaster – summer only.
